On 30 January 2019, a call for applications for the L'ORÉAL Baltic ‘For Women in Science’ Fellowship Programme was announced.
On 20 February, at the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, the young scientists intending to participate in the competition met two Lithuanian researchers who had already won this prestigious scholarship: Dr Urtė Neniškytė (2017) and Dr Giedrė Motuzaitė-Matuzevičiūtė Keen (2018).
Asta Junevičienė, Secretary General of the Lithuanian National Commission for UNESCO, and Prof. Zenonas Dabkevičius, vice-president of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, also took part at the event and shared their insights about L'ORÉAL Baltic ‘For Women in Science’ Fellowship Programme.
The laureates talked about their experience in submitting applications and activities upon receiving the scholarship, and answered questions from the audience. One of the issues discussed was how to combine motherhood with the obligations of a participant in the L’ORÉAL Baltic ‘For Women in Science’ Fellowship Programme. Dr. Urtė Neniškytė ir Giedrė Motuzaitė-Matuzevičiūtė Keen answered questions on how to prepare documents and present one’s research activities. Prof. Dabkevičius focused on the aspects that the members of the selection board prioritise in the evaluation of applications. After the official part of the event, the participants took their time to socialise in an informal atmosphere.
The information gained will encourage more young women scientists to make a positive decision on the submission of applications for the L'ORÉAL Baltic ‘For Women in Science’ Fellowship Programme.
