New foreign members of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences

Two Estonian scientists became new foreign members of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences. The decision was passed on October 1, 2019 by the General Assembly of its members. Rein Raud, the first Rector of Tallinn University and Doctor honoris causa of Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, and Tarmo Soomere, now President of the Estonian Academy of Sciences for the second term and Doctor honoris causa of Klaipėda University, have been elected recognising their merits in the development of science and studies in Lithuania. Professor Rein Raud is an expert in culturology, Professor Tarmo Soomere is a scholar of marine science.
