The Presidium of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, members of Division of the Humanities and Social Sciences and all the academic community sincerely congratulate you on the occasion of your birthday.
Your important scholarly works on the topics of Renaissance culture in Latvia and Europe, as well as your research revealing the phenomena of art, architecture, and especially sacred art, as well as your concern for the protection of cultural heritage have made a significant contribution to the scientific treasury of Latvia and the Baltic countries.
We are impressed by your exceptional competence in organising science while leading the Latvian Academy of Sciences, educating young people through your lectures at the Latvian Academy of Art, and training highly competent scholars. Your active international activities and civic initiatives are also noteworthy.
We particularly appreciate your sincere and consistent attention to Lithuania. The professional and personal ties you have cultivated with Lithuanian researchers and cultural institutions over many years point to your open-mindedness, your ability to bring together the communities of the Baltic countries, and your genuine interest in our shared cultural heritage.
