President of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences Takes Office

The 2nd of February 2026 marked the end of the second term of office of Prof. Jūras Banys (in the photo on the right), the former president of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences. On this occasion, he solemnly handed over the keys to the Academy to Prof. Vytautas Nekrošius, the acting president of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences. With this symbolic gesture, he wished the new president smooth work and creative solutions, continuing the traditions of this institution and implementing its most important goals. Academician Jūras Banys remains a member of the Presidium of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences.
