The Baltic National Academies of Sciences in cooperation with National Commissions for UNESCO launches a joint 2026 year contest for women scientists. Nine outstanding Baltic women scientists – three in Estonia, three in Latvia and three in Lithuania – will receive an award of €7,000.

If the applicant has been on maternity leave after obtaining her doctorate the time limit shall be extended by 18 months per each maternity leave.

In all three countries, two awards are foreseen in the fields of Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Medical and Health Sciences, and Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences – one for a Doctoral Candidate and one for a Doctor of Sciences. One award for a Doctor of Sciences in the fields of Social Sciences or Humanities is foreseen in each Baltic country (the fields according to the Frascati Manual 2015).
