The Lithuanian Academy of Sciences Expresses Support for Ukrainian Scientists

Yesterday, on 28 September 2026, drones operated by fascist russia attacked the building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The Academy of Sciences has absolutely nothing to do with the war, apart from the fact that everyone sincerely hates the invaders. Therefore, this attack is yet another war crime, and who knows how many there have been already. It is obvious that, failing to achieve victory on the battlefield, this savage fascist regime has resorted to terrorising peaceful people. Their aim is very clear: to destroy the state of Ukraine and its people so that they can plunder with impunity. This is a true genocide against the People of Ukraine.

Dear Ukrainians, dear academicians, we fully understand how difficult things are for you. We realise that this is a fight for survival. Our hearts go out to you and your families. We are convinced that you will win, and that the russian barbarians will be punished and end up in prisons, because neither justice nor God can be on the side of terrorist russia.

The community of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences has been helping and will continue to help the Ukrainian academic community and all the people of Ukraine in every way it can. Throughout history, we fought this hydra together on more than one occasion – this time, you will prevail!
