30 09 2026 The Winners of the ‘Women in Science Baltic Fellowships 2026’ to Be Honoured in Tallinn

On 1 October 2026, the Estonian Academy of Sciences in Tallinn will host the award ceremony for the ‘Women in Science Baltic Fellowships 2026’. The Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian academies of sciences, in collaboration with their respective national commissions for UNESCO, have organised this competition for the third time.

The aim of the scholarships is to raise the profile of female researchers, promote gender equality in the world of science, and inspire future generations of researchers. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of an assessment of previous academic work and with a view to supporting the implementation of the one-year research projects described in the applications.

Three scholarships are awarded in each country. Two of these go to a PhD student and a doctorate holder working in the fields of the natural sciences, engineering and technology, medicine and health, or agricultural and veterinary sciences. The third scholarship is awarded to a holder of doctorate in the social sciences or the humanities.

Heads of the Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian academies of sciences, representatives of education and science policy, and secretaries-general of the national commissions for UNESCO – among them President of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences Prof. Vytautas Nekrošius and Secretary-General of the Lithuanian National Commission for UNESCO Miglė Mašanauskienė – will congratulate the laureates. A video greeting from Raminta Popovienė, minister for Education, Science, and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania, will also be shown.

On 1 October 2026 at 1:00 pm, you can watch the live stream of the event here:
