Two Lithuanian Researchers Awarded Prestigious L’ORÉAL Baltic Scholarships ‘For Women in Science’

On 11 June, a delegation of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences headed by Prof. Jūras Banys, President of the Academy, went on a visit to Riga, Latvia, where two Lithuanian researchers were awarded prestigious L’ORÉAL Baltic scholarships. The Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, L’ORÉAL Baltic, and the Lithuanian National Commission for UNESCO have signed a memorandum of cooperation in awarding L’ORÉAL scholarships ‘For Women in Science’.

Seven researchers were awarded L’ORÉAL Baltic scholarships ‘For Women in Science’ during the ceremony held in the Aula Magna of the University of Latvia. To mark its 15 years in Latvia and three years in Estonia and Lithuania, L’ORÉAL Baltic awarded scholarships of €6000 to two Lithuanian researchers, Dr Jurgita Skiecevičienė and doctoral student Milda Alksnė. Scholarships were awarded to three Latvian researchers – Jana Vecstaudza, Laura Dembovska, a master student, and Dr Marina Makrecka-Kūka, and to two researchers from Estonia – Kaarin Parts, a master student, and Dr Tuul Sepp.
